Elizabethtown Fire Station 1
Elizabethtown Fire Department started with a small fire station in downtown Elizabethtown in what is now the Chamber of commerce building. As the City grew more room was needed, so in 1971 Chief Clifford Bowen built a new station 1 at the north end of town in what is now a parking area at Hardin Memorial Hospital near Layman Ln. It contained 4 single bays and a small office area. With the continued growth of our city a new larger station was needed. In 1998 Chief Richard Games commissioned the current fire station 1. It is located at 380 Ring Road, has 4 double bays, living quarters and a large office area, containing enough space for both suppression and prevention offices. The Chief Officers and Administration operate from this location, the suppression forces operate a rescue company responding to rescue calls in both the city and county. The prevention offices are open 8am to 5pm Monday thru Friday.
